About

Rev. M. Vernon Hunt is a writer and independent minister currently residing in Ashland, OH.  He was ordained by the Universal Life Church Monastery in May of 2010.  Rev. Hunt is a pandeist, with a particular interest in mythology and mythological structure, classical and modern, and has been particularly inspired by the work of Joseph Campbell.  More specifically, he is of the belief that the names and trappings of the divine are of minimal importance and that it can manifest in any form we can imagine.  His favorite modern mythologies are Doctor Who and the Buffyverse.

In addition to spiritual matters, he is a supporter of most liberal causes, with a more specialized interest in the area of LGBT+ issues.  He is known for his boldness and irreverence, often inviting controversy with his unconventional views and occasionally withering sarcasm.  His writing has been favorably compared to such luminaries as Oscar Wilde and Dan Savage.  He is frighteningly humble.

In addition to the aforementioned interests and activities, he has an ever-abiding fondness for all things horror, particularly zombies and gothic tales.  When he isn't writing and spending entirely too much time on Facebook, he enjoys reading, watching films and television programs, and napping.  He has a most delightful boyfriend whom he loves immensely.  He's a fan of children and animals and cuddly, cute things of all sorts.  He's a bit of a hermit, but not quite a misanthrope.

Rev. Hunt is currently hard at work on a guidebook for LGBT+ folk who are fresh from the closet.  His secondary project is an action-horror/urban fantasy series starring his favorite fictional creation, gay pro wrestler Vernon Vanderbilt.  The books will be released sooner or later.

Generous Dollops was founded in 2014 as a repository for his thoughts on various subjects, mainly spirituality and LGBT+ matters, but anything that's on his mind will be considered fair game.  It is primarily an opinion-based blog, focused more on digging into issues rather than merely reporting on them.  There are plenty of news blogs out there already, and they probably do that better anyway.
